Conceptual Metaphor of Time: Time is a Container in Vietnamese Language

Abstract
Conceptual metaphor is a way of thinking based on experience. The conceptual metaphor is universal. However, it has a typical color in a certain nation because of specific cultural contexts such as the characteristics of the times, ideological ideology, tradition, cultural exchange and adaption. This article focuses on the metaphorical analysis of the notion that time is a container, this is how people perceive time in Vietnamese language. Time is an idea that always exists in the mind of man because we experience time through the transformation of ourselves and of everything around us. Therefore, this is a fairly common conceptual metaphor in Vietnamese thinking. Survey material of the article is the conversations in daily life, it truly reflects Vietnamese people’s feelings and ways of thinking about the world around them.
