American Anthropological Association

The American Anthropological Association values and endorses the substantive contributions to linguistic anthropology made by the Global Network in Linguistic Anthropology – The CALA (The Conference on Asian Linguistic Anthropology), The COMELA (The Conference on Mediterranean Linguistic Anthropology), the SCAALA (The South and Central American Assembly on Linguistic Anthropology), and the COOLA (The Conference on Oceanian Linguistic Anthropology), and their associated projects. These contributions include convenings that promote scholarly collaborations on an international scale, especially supporting emerging scholars, while at the same time sharpening the local focus of Linguistic Anthropology. The American Anthropological Association commends the CALA / COMELA / SCAALA / COOLA network for its persistent efforts to use its convening power in support of linguistic anthropology scholarship around the world.
